I forgot to mention this, but in order to "hear" my MP3 player at a reasonable level, I do need to turn up the volume on the HU. However, this is a result of the MP3 player only having a headphone out, not a dedicated Line-out; my DVD player is much better. Therefore, the volume levels and EQ are first controlled by the player, not the radio. (Does IPod have dedicated line-out? I don't think so, but I think they have an adapter -$60 - that does give a line out.)
THIS MEANS that it is a player issue, not an input issue. There is no static, no "crossover" from nearby stations, etc., just a simple "clean" line input to the headunit.
Enjoy!
