At that age, might be best to pull the valve cover and check for sludge. If heavy deposits, do not switch or flush. If clean or simple discoloration, you can switch with or without flushing. If you lossen sludge deposits these will plug up the oil intake strainer and you loose oil pressure.
These engines do not tolerate oil neglect. Deposits from a long time ago can get loose when flushing or converting to synthetic.
The valve cover is not hard to remove. You need a #40 torx driver and #30 perhaps for other bits. You will need a new VC gasket as the old one will be quite hard by now.
As long as we are on that subject? Test to see that your low oil pressure warning light shows up before you crank the engine. The pressure switches do fail and you loose any warning of low oil pressure problems.
Note that the early NG900 production had bogus engine rear seals which will leak substantially by 100K miles. With your low miles but high age, hard to tell. Can you find service records?
