Clutch cable bracket & service Q. Posted by Peter [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
According to Saab, "the clutch cable may malfunction which results in ... increased clutch pedal effort... "
This is my only symptom so far at 97k miles. The Saab instructions for servicing and lubricating the clutch cable read in part:
4) Inspect and replace bracket, p/n 44 90 249 and screw p/n 79 72 805, if damaged. Check that the bracket is centered on the sleeve and that the sleeve is fitted according to the measurement in the illustration. Tighten the bracket body...
I vaguely remember something like this being done by my original dealer (who has unfortunately gone out of business), when I complained about the clutch pedal being stiff a year or so after I bought the car.
Has anyone actually followed this procedure to lubricate the cable, replaced these parts, or do you just wait for the clutch cable to break? If so with what results?
Are these parts commonly replaced with the clutch cable when it breaks?
(this is a follow-up q to below thread on clutch cable life)
