This is weird. New shocks (and Bilsteins are good ones)and the upper attachment (strut mount) has broken twice on same side. Torque value should be no more than 20-25 lbs. or so for the three nuts. I have had the Scan Tech mounts for about 13k on my car and the mount on the drivers side is making awful noises and needs replacement but is not cracked like your is. I am not too happy with the Scan Tech mounts, and plenty of posts slamming the KYB mounts. Guess OEM ones are the way to go, live and learn...
When I replaced mine, I used the softer Boge shocks, new bumpers, new bearings, new stanchion arm, control arm and tie rod rubber bushings on both sides. I wonder if...
The Bilsteins are too stiff for the Scan Tech mounts.
A bad or degraded control arm bushing is transferring unusual loads to the mount.
The bump stop is badly degraded and allows more undamped force to be applied to the mount.
Some other part of the front suspension is damaged.
At any rate, very strange this is happening to one side only. I do think the Scan Tech mounts look feeble compared to the OEM ones.
