I would check that the PCV hose/check-valve/orifice all flow. If the crankcase gets pressurized, that can make a marginal seal dump oil.
And sticking rings would increase blowby gases and pressure. There are solvent type additives for that (should be watery in the can, not thick). If you have not been using synthetic, then stuck rings need to be considered.
You have not listed your miles. These seals are often junk by 100k, and with your years, it can only get worse. When I switched from (a long time ago), FakeTek(tm) to M1 10W30 things got much better. And M1 5W40 would have been better, but did not exist then.
Some seal swelling addative might get you by short term until you replace the seal. These early rear seals all fail. If you are way past 100K now, thne I have to wonder if that the original seal.
Only you can decide if you can drive on that seal. Might be good to carry spare oil and check often.
Mine would piss out oil on hard runs up to around 6000 RPM at full throttle at 15 PSI of boost, and would run back onto the cat converter and stink. That was bad. The M1 10W30 and additive reduced that greatly, but there is no cure other than replacement.
