The shock retaining bolt was VERY loose and had no loctite. It was nearly off the threads and was certainly the cause of my headaches
Interesting, I did not go anywhere near this item when I did the mounts yesterday.
The struts and mounts were replaced by Paul Noury of SAABtech in Barrington, NH in May of last year, the passenger mount was cracked in less than 3k which leads me to question wheter this bolt was not properly tightened and may have caused the cracked mount. A year ago the RH side was still a little clunky after I picked up from SAABtech (reason I had new OEM struts and Scantech Mounts, SKF thrust bearings installed to begin with) which I complained about and Paul made mention of my balljoint being worn and he said that was the culprit, he also said he would not trust Scantech mounts to last. Well he was right on one count, my Ball joint came off yesterday too and was certainly worn, but I don't think it was the cause of the sounds coming from the suspension last may.
I don't know what this means, speculate as you will...
I don't even care, just glad to have found the problem with all your guys' help!
