the difference between GM brands, say a Grand Am and an Alero. The Grand Am and the Alero share platform and MANY parts. I'm sure that the new 9-3 and the Grand Am will most likely share the platform and very few if any parts (I don't care about nuts and bolts). Besides, what does it matter as long as the total package IE THE 9-3 ITSELF is a good car and carries on SAAB's good virtues, such as safety, efficient engines, performance, and utility and leaves behind SAAB's bad virtues such as questionable reliability and poor sales. All of this speculation about the future 9-3 and it's platform is pointless and a waste of this bulletin board. See what the new 9-3 is about and what it offers. If you don't like it, go buy a classic SAAB 900 and live out the rest of your days on this site on the classic 900. If you do like it, buy a NG 9-3 and keep the SAAB enthusiasm going. My point is that the NG9-3 will not be the same car as a C900...as it shouldn't be. The C900 was/is a great car no doubt, but you couldn't sell one to anybody but a true SAAB fan if they were still building it today. The car market is a moving target and I think GM is doing a good job helping SAAB hit it.
