I am very happy with my 01 Viggen , which at 10mo's just went in for it's free 10k check-up. I think the recently updated A4 is a much improved car vs previous platform. It is also a VERY different car than the Saab. New
chassis vs. old, sedan vs. hatchback, numerous vs. rare, so I think it should depend on how/where you do your driving and if you want mainstream
vehicle or something truly unique. I think as far as open road driving away fr. pothole-filled city environment Saab is clear winner. The Viggen is best highway car I've driven. If I had daily commute into city w/ lot of stop and go and uneven pavement the Audi would be in my garage (although it would the 6 cyl. not the 4cyl.) Let's face it the Saab requires a bit more patience to enjoy, just look at some of the posts on the board; towels stuffed behind seats, tennis balls under seats, balky shifter, a bit of torque steer under hard accelleration, wind noise. These are all facts I can verify from personal experience. The hatchback is great, the brakes outstanding, and very comfortable seats are some of the better qualities. So if I were you I would add-up all of the strengths/weaknesses in each car and apply them to your driving environment. Also, I think the fact 02 is last year for 93 viggen should help depreciation down the Rd.
