Kris,
Make the adjuster work with the body shop to come up with the proper estimate. Once they come up with one make the body shop stick to the price. What you want to avoid is some nitwit adjuster using a number of 1,500 and then have you accept that. Next thing that will happen is that the body shop wants 3,000 and then you have to fight for the other 1,500
As far as the question of repairing the rear quarter panel I would push for a new one. Saabs have crumple zones in the rear panels. If you are ever hit from behind they are suposed to crumple and absorb the hit (happend to me in my old 89 SPG.) Make the argument that by repairing it the strength of the panel is not the same and as a result the car is not as safe.
Take my advice YOU MUST BE A PAIN IN THE ASS TO THESE ADJUSTERS AND YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. Don't give up until you get what you want. All those years of payments, you deserve to be made whole. Also remember that if the accident was not your fault that here in MA your deductable should be waived.
Good Luck
