I ran into a friend today who just bought a low milage '99 9-3LPT AUTO. He has fitted the K&N filter and Viggen exhaust as well, after seeing them on my car. I drove his car, and I can confirm that I was quite amazed how powewrfull it pulled away in sports mode. And with far less torque steer than on my SE.
If your car drives anything like the one I drove today, I can't see you being dissatisfied.
I am not sure whether a base 9-3 and a MBC are right marriage. No doubt it works, but an MBC in a 185 or higher HP engine would be a match made in heaven! Still, an MBC is far better and cheaper than an ECU upgrade IMHO. You can "tune" it to taste and road conditions. ECU upgrades can be an expensive waste of money if they don't live up to expectation.
