What are you doing to your brakes? I had 40% front thickeness remaining at 135000 miles!

You really need to get involved with your vehicle if you want to be in control! Find someone who will work with you to explain and show etc.

The parking brakes do not get any wear ever unless there is a problem. You engage them and release them on a stationary vehicle. So they are not releasing properly and are dragging in the brake drum portion of the rear brake rotors. This is caused by lack of lubrication of the sliding contact points in the mechanism and/or by a cable that is binding. These things typically are assembled dry, no lubrication in the factories, and are prone to this. If they are not releasing properly, this is a malfunction, not a wear item. I had my dealer remove the calipers and rotors and do the clean and lub under warranty years ago. The brakes are not releasing fully. This is a grey area, and if they percieve that you don't knwo what you are talking about, you may not get very far.

So having the brake lever moving up may signify that the brakes need to be adjusted, but it is also a sign of trouble. Adjusting the brakes and not correcting the root problem will simply lead to new parking brake shoes and possibly damaged rotors. Only adjusting the brakes is doing you a dis-service. If you feel that the lever has not been going up and that the parking brakes do hold the vehicle when applied, then the parking brakes are probably fine as is. I always suggest that folks should get into the parking brakes and preemptively clean and lubricate.

Clean the bulkhead? Do you get lots of leaves on your vehicle. This crap gets into a rubber drain hord that you can reach and remove with no tools and clear out and replace in a couple of minutes. Perhaps they are doing that while replacing the cabin air intake filter. That would make sense.

You can very easily judge the front pad thickess, just by looking at things through your alloy wheels.
