9-3 Winter Tires in Germany

I've used original size Michelin Pilot Alpins for the last 2 winters here in Germany on my base 2000 9-3. This is an outstanding combination in the nasty weather. There were a few places where I had the only 2 wheel drive vehicle in the parking lot at the top of a long, steep, ice and snow covered hill. The H-speed rating makes it easier living around a clear and dry autobahn. I prefer the handling characteristics of these tires to the OEM Michelin MXV4s. I am now a believer in winter tires. My other car is equipped with "all season tires." It would get scary in the snow and ice, and as a family we would minimize driving it as much as we could and take the safer, stable Saab.
