"Normal" would feel goofy Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Tue, 7 May 2002 21:29:05 In Reply to: Driver's seat position, BrianF, Mon, 6 May 2002 18:25:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A certain amount of offset in pedals and steering wheels is normal in all cars. That is if you make the steering wheel absolutely perpendicular to the seat and the direction of travel and put the pedals dead ahead, most people then feel a car like this feels goofy. You have to have a certain amount of offset, because all cars are this way, to make it feel normal.
On my C900 convertible the cables that controlled the seat back angle had expired and that made a tremendous difference once I got that fixed so that both sides of the seat moved together.
The mechanic was very careful to have me select the angle of the seatback before cinching the cables back down as there was some individual preference there.
Perhaps your drivers seat was tweaked by the previous owner. One good strong push with both feet into one side would bend the frame. Put a straigt edge across it and see. Have it adjusted by your Saab mechanic and even yourself out.
