Advisory: New cars delivered with high tire pressure

Summary: New cars may be delivered with 42-lbs air pressure (recommended for high speed driving), rather than the 33-lbs recommended for typical U.S. driving speeds.
In a recent post, someone in a new 9-3 complained about a bouncy ride that turned out to be caused by high tire pressures. I just took my new 2002 9-3 SE on a trip and had the same bouncy ride complaints, so I checked my tire pressure, and sure enough, all 4 tires were 42-lbs. That's what the manual recommends for driving > 100-mph. (Not likely a speed I'll see often here in the northeastern U.S.) I deflated the tires to the recommended 33-lbs and the ride is much less jarring. My car was from a different dealer than the other person, so this may be a typical condition on all U.S. imports, or at least those on the east coast?
I plan to write my dealer and Saab USA too.
