Great welcome to XM be sure to post your experiances on http://www.clubxm.com.

I also installed a FM Modulator/XM on my 1999 9-3SE. My insstalled attched the FM receiver to the back of the read seats and ran the power and AI-net cable along the passenger side to behind the glove box where hye mounted the modulator. I was upset that the "Professional" install didn't understand that the XM Receiver needed constant power vs. accessory power. Oh the moduator and receiver are Alpine units.

Whenever I turned on the car the receiver always started back at the preview channel and I had to manually tune to the previous station. He also double T-tapped the accessory wire to provide power to the modulator and the XM-Receiver.

I have since corrected this and have full funcationality of the off position of the key and the radio will turn off when the key is removed and remember my last station. I did this by plugging the XM-Receiver into a always hot connection and tapping the exiting wire harness for the radio's accessory line to the modulator along with the always hot connection. Now when the engine is shut off the accessory line stays hot and the radio continues to play along with the modulator and the converter. Take out the key and bam everything shuts off.

The mounted my remote below the shifter in the center console just under the parking break. I could get to everything by touch so I really didn't need to view the display. Also the IR remote helps out with the wife for tuning when she is sitting in the passenger seat.

I now have all the parts to replace the factory radio with a Alpine head end. I am just waiting on the DIN sleve and pocket and I will be ready to go. Its not that the FM modulator sounds bad its actually quite good with the factory radio its because I want to also play MP3's and install a lower cost CD changer.
