The head unit is in there fairly tightly, which is why real DIN removal tools have small indentations on the ends to latch into the clips on the head unit. If you have a cassette deck, you can grab it from the cassette opening. Otherwise, putting a little side pressure on the coat hangers might work. If you want to just unplug it from the amp end, you'll have to take out the glove compartment (about 10 screws, a 10mm bolt, and a funny plastic expanding rivet) and then take the right hand kick panel off. The amp is back there, and you can just pull the black DIN plug out of the top. Just keep in mind that you'll lose most of your bass. The head unit doesn't put out enough power to get the most out of a pair of 6 x 9 speakers.
