My '99 9-3 SE had the following boost gremlins starting with my purchase (Used, but under warranty, whew!):
- Noticed boost only going to edge of green on gauge
- Found air intake out of place (who knows how?)
- Putting air intake back into place allowed full air flow. Boost went to middle of yellow and held. Still not performing as wild as expected and read about.
- Replaced BPV myself, no change
- Replaced plugs, no change
- Took to dealer and did a boost check to find turbo is running fine
- Dealer replaced APC valve and viola' instant beast of a car with boost going to early red zone in 3/4/5 gears. No test performed to determine, just a "gut" feeling by dealer's mechanic.
Have noticed I'm not getting as much boost recently, just hitting red and no further. Not sure if it means time for plugs or something else... Anyway, might check these simpler items before digging in deeper. Hope it isn't anything too major. Boost is not over rated, loads of fun!
