My best heel and toe efforts away from th track came in two vehicles. My last car, a '96 Nissan 200SX SE-R with a Jim Wolf POP on it. The POP was installed solely for the joy of snicking the SE-R's tranny through the gears whilst heel and toeing. Gorgeous noise.
The runner up was my old fire company's Seagraves fire engine. A late '60s model refitted from the original 16 cylinder gas powerplant to a somewhat newer inline 6 diesel. Open exhaust and another sweet shifter (odd for such an old collection of parts) allowed for many return trips from calls barking through the gears while cruising the back roads to the fire house.
It is a shame to see this slide into the memory books with todays "dying goat" noise from the boy racer crowds that simply don't understand typically. I am tempted to carry a spare towel around simply to stuff it into these howitzer sized exhaust tips that are gross sounding and goofy looking.
Anyway, my short rant and memories. I know a CAI for the SAAB isn't the greatest mod because of the reported diff in air temp but I would love to hear it... Might have to see what engineering can take place to facilitate maintaining a cooler flow of air if installed...
