I agree Derek...I don't have kids either, but if I did I'd want them in the safest car, with the most up to date braking systems etc., that I could affort. That's exactly why I'm driving a new Saab now.
It seems to me KenD is a thoughtful and caring father- if he can afford it, who are we to comment on his parenting skills and the quality of his son's character? I'm certainly not going to start listing the cheap cars I had to drive, how much they cost, how hard I worked on them....seems to miss the point entirely and to be coming from an emotional place that has little to do with what KenD was saying. The thread following his recent posts when he was considering this purchase was filled with this type of response, and they didn't advance the discussion that time either.
