You notice that the only people who have a problem with a parent giving their kid a nice car are the ones who had crappy ones when they were a kid. Me personally, my folks got me a 1995 900S for my first car back in 1995. Though they financed it for 20 grand then because of several deals they got from the dealer. My folks got it for me because they wanted a car that would last, be safe, and under warranty. Thank God they got it under warranty because every little thing that went wrong did go wrong on that car. I loved that car and took great care of it for the five years I had it. I never got in a car wreck, and I never bragged about having a nice car. In the late summer of 2000 my 1995 900S's clutch went out along with the ac and several other things. We were able to trade it in on a 2000 9-3 base where we paid under 200 bucks a month for a 3 year lease. I shared that car with my sister for a year and a half. People looked at us like we were spoiled brats, which was far from the truth. We just had folks that were smart with their money and wanted a safe car for their kids. At the moment I no longer drive a Saab, I bought my mom's 98 Expedition with 100,000 miles on it because I needed the room and towing capabilities. I'm about to buy a Suzuki SV650 to have some fun driving since I don't have a turbo anymore. By the way before anyone says I am a spoiled brat, I happen to be a 2nd Lt. in the United States Marine Corps and pay my own bills now. Don't be to hard on the dad and son because the kid may be responsible and take care of his new Saab. It's not your money that is being spent so let them do what they want with their money. It's a smart move, he'll be much safer in the Saab than a Dodge Neon. Sorry I wrote such a long reply. Mabey its because I spent a couple hours too long in the Officer's Club, or mabey it's because I got tired of people telling me how much they hated me because I drove a nice new car in high school. Take care of that car kid because you will love driving it every second of your young life.
