She's back and purring like a kitten! The car has 75k on the clock, but now only about 20k on the engine and now about 10miles on the clutch!

Its pretty amazing - in all I had the guys at texas automotive performance replace my base engine with a salvaged low mileage HOT engine, put in a viggen ic, replace the clutch with a viggen unit, replace the slave cylinder, replace one cv half shaft, change the coolant, gear oil and motor oil, replace all worn belts, hoses, etc.

Of course, because they're like that, they took care of a whole bunch of other issues along the way like faulty wiring at the lights, the nasty cabin air filter, and minor missing wear items and scared away the mouse (!) that moved into the passenger compartment when I had to abandon the car when it intially died. They even detailed the car (you should see the engine bay!)

I guess with that much new running gear, one should expect a smooth running car!! I'm just as appreciative as all heck at how much the guys went the extra mile to look into all the alternative source and spec options, stating flatly what was necessary, what would help performance, what would be convenient to do at the same time based on maintenance shedules, patiently discussing with me the best plan of action and, of course, being very fair, up front and reasonable with costs.

Amazingly, despite the fact that the project took on more and more scope as I agreed to more work done along the way, the final labor portion didn't increase much from initial estimate. Parts prices were also all comparable to what I noticed on the web.

I, being "like that", couldn't help but go check on the car periodically as it was coming along. It was fascinating, and apparently this weekend, texas automotive performance will be putting up pics of the project on their (eponymous) website.
