Volvo more or less ruined by Ford? Not from what I have been seeing. Volvo is the only brand that is currently making a profit, compared to the rest of Fords brands. Volvo is also seeing their best sales ever, and the XC90, S60, and R-series are hot items. Quality is also up, second only to Saab in reliability for a European manufacturer according to Consumer Reports. Saab & Volvo are the only two Europeans brands with above average reliability according to CR.
Also according to the latest JD Powers quality report, Volvo was rated the highest European brand and most improved brand in 2002 for intial quality. In the mid-size lux segment, the Volvo S80 is 2nd in quality, first is the Lexus GS-series. The S80 beat cars like the 5-series, A6-range, and E-class for quality. Volvo is also rated as the best European brand in customer service and care.
