Wow, sounds like you've really had a tough time with that Golf. A couple of things:
Seems very odd that a car not yet 3 yrs old with only 7000 miles is out of warranty. Doesn't VW have a 4/50 warranty program? What's up?
If you take a look at the consumer reviews of the Golf at Edmunds.com you'll see that many people are complaning about the fallen window problem. This suggests a design and/or manufacturing flaw -- perhaps VW will repair or replace them for free. If they aren't, they should be. Raising a little hell might get them to do it.
