I'm not sure what you mean by "manual control" in regards to a bypass or blow-off valve. The engine's vacuum determines whether this valve is open or closed. The valve's purpose is to vent back pressure from the turbo when you stop accelerating, to prevent potentially damaging turbo stalls.
The MBC controls the flow of turbo pressure to the wastegate, and the BPV or BOV controlls the pressure from the turbo to the atmosphere. I too have both devices in my car, the Forge BPV because my plastic Bosch valve was beginning to wear out at 45,000 miles. It is a servicable part, and some models/brands have manually adjustable spring pressures, but the valve's operation is automatic from the driver's perspective.
Best,
Lutfisk
