All the 9-3s had suspensions that creaked when very cold. Search the board for "creak" or similar terms and I'm sure you'll come up with a lot. It's not a serious problem and goes away as the car warms up. People have had success with teflon tape, I believe.

The head gasket problem is one of the big ones. You found it already.

The only other big one is the heater box controls. Check with your dealer whether the box has been replaced. Otherwise, the controls can bind up, and you'll just hear a clicking sound from the ACC unit when it tries to adjust either the temperature or air flow location. Search for heater box on the board, and you'll find lots of info. This is an expensive repair, so try to do your research while you've still got the warranty.

Your left front wheel could be related to an issue with the torque on a couple of bolts in the suspension. There's a TSB on retorquing those. Ask your dealer.

Saab a/c has always been hit or miss. I guess they just don't use it much in Sweden.

I haven't heard anything about the temp gauge before, and I don't think there are serious electrical problems. Also don't know what normal operation is for the cooling fan, but it could well be related to the temp gauge, or it could be normal operation.

One final thing: ask your dealer if the DI cassette has been replaced. These parts wear out sometime between 60k and 120k, from what I've seen reading the board. It will leave you stranded by the side of the road when it happens. Many on this board seem to be carrying a spare if they're above 60k. Obviously not something you're worried about right away if you're under warranty still, but something to keep in mind. One tip...if your DI cassette is black (long rectangular thing on top of the engine, says Saab Trionic on it, I believe), then it's been replaced, since the '99s came with red ones. However, you could also have a new red one in there. Most likely, you've got the original, of course.
