Jed -
I feel your pain. I do not have the 2003 SS, but have lived with a '99 9-3 SE for the past year and a half and it's been to the dealer more times than ANY other car I've had in the past. I thank my lucky stars every day that I have a warranty to 75,000 miles and I have no problem bringing my car in for issues that constantly seem to arise. From what I have surmised I wouldn't exactly call Saabs "over engineered."
ON THE OTHER HAND - they are great cars to drive, smooth, powerful, and comfortable. Despite my problems in the past, I probably would buy another SAAB. I live literally next door to the dealership so it's no problem for me to drop my car off. I think in general they're great cars, but issues such as you're having don't surprise me. You're coupling the Saab "quirkiness" with a new model run. I've learned to be patient and at the same time learn how the car runs. If you don't have the patience, no one blames you. Good luck, Thom
