First of all, I understand that there are some kinks that need to be worked out during the rollout of a redesigned model, but my dissapointment is primarily centered around the fact that I had to take the car in for repairs on 4 separate occassions within 4 months of purchase. These weren't minor issues either.
* Brake swich failure caused the brake lights to be on continuously, meaning that driver's behind me could not tell whether or not I was braking (twice).
* Headlamp assembly failure means the headlights are pointing straight down.
* Stability control failure warning is a safety hazard (thankfully it was merely the warning light going off, not an actual failure)
Sure, this could happen to any car, but reading up on the forums leads me to believe that this is more likely to happen to a Saab then say other German brands...
I can certainly appreciate those who stand by Saab. I'm sure the majority of owners have had trouble free experiences, and as I mentioned, there a number of things about the 9-3SS that I thoroughly enjoy.
I guess its one of those caveats of human nature - one experience with a particular unit causes me to label the entire brand as unreliable. Dreaming of that silky smooth inline Bavarian six...
