Just had it done today.
(1) base 9-3, 1999, 50,800
(2) rattling sound coming from left front of car, diagnosed as unseated driver's side inner driver. Because driver was unseated, transmission fluid was leaking.
(3) driver reseated, transmission fluid replaced with MTF 0063 at dealer's suggestion. Rattling noise gone (hooray!).
(4a) dealer (Charles River Saab, Watertown, MA)
(5a) I paid for it out of pocket...car is not under warranty.
(6a) No warranty = no coverage. Problem fixed the first time.
(7) My '99 hatch serves my hauling needs well, so I'd prefer an '04 convertible instead of the '04 Vector hatchback that JimBlake wanted :) Other than that, if there is a serious problem with the transmission (won't shift properly), and the MTF0063 fixes it, then it should be a warranty fix. If the shifter just doesn't feel as nice as it could, and the owner wants to upgrade it, I don't think that's Saab's responsibility.
(NOTES) I have a related question. The information on genuinesaab.com suggests flushing, refilling with 0063, flushing, refilling with 0063 again, flushing, and refilling with 0063 a third time. My dealer only charged me for 2 liters of fluid, and at 1.5 liters a fill, I assume they only flushed and filled once. What should I be concerned about?
