I'm no audiophile or anything, but it sure sounds good to me. MUCH more bass now. Crutchfield told me that for our cars you need to oreder the shallow mount 6 1/2's. After installing, I'm not so convinced of that.
The only real problem I had with the install was that the adapters that Crutchfield sent w/ the speakers do not fit the pre drill holes in the door. So I did not use them. If you did use them you'd have a speaker pushing a fair amount of bass held onto the adapter by 4 screws and the adapter held onto the door with two screws. Doesn't sound good to me. So I had to drill three holes in each door to mount the speakers. (One pre-drilled hole did fit.) I hated doing it. I made certain that I cleaned out every bit of metal that was created while drilling. I attached a VERY strong magnet to the inside of the door under the hole I was drilling and I held a shop-vac right next to the drill bit as I drilled. Then I vac'd up the inside of the door to get anything the magnet missed.
But, so far the system sounds MUCH better than it used to. I'm very pleased...
Later,
SR
