You might be with that type of mileage. Fact is that most people who buy the Viggen drive it enthusastically. Some goodies will add extra stress and wear to the engine. Nothing I read there was too bad. The engine issues are troubling though, but if fixed correctly might not be so bad. Its a real toss up. On the good side the car is a southern car so probably never seen snow which will help keep some things good. The guy seems to have kept the services up so thats good. Lets say it has a new clutch, good brakes (rears look original might need to replace soon), and the engine runs well for next 10K miles - really your major problem point is the tranny -- which is known to be a bit of an issue - if it was driven rough the transmission might be an issue.
Since I am now on my 2nd Viggen and recently was in the market for a blue 99 (last 3-4 months) I have seen several high mileage Viggens with far less issues, but no warranty. I have to admit that I payed extra and got a CPO car after looking at them all. All that said I had many issues with the CPO car because the dealer just chucked it on the lot without any real review. All that's fixed now and she is a beauty. Best bet for the most well cared for Viggen's is probably the Saabnet classifieds. When you read some you can tell the owner was a real nut (in a good sense) that babied the car -- they also typically want more for the car.
This is a tough call honestly. If it were me I probably wouldn't buy this one sight unseen. If the flight is cheap and your ok to walk maybe check it out. Email me if you want -- I have a long list of tips for Viggen hunting and a few that seemed like decent deals might still be around -- I was lucky when buying my 2nd one that I owned one first. Helped me walk away from the first one I went to Florida (of all places) to buy.
P.S. Sorry if I sound negative -- I just want to help since I have been here before. I am not trying to discourage you.
