I wanted this car when I first read about it and test drove a Linear back in October and really liked it. However, I didn't care for the cloth armrest and door panels (or the stereo for that matter), so I figured I might as well see what the Arc and Vector were like. By the time they were available, I was out of work so I had to put it off. But that's not the case any more, although I am making less than I was.
I have also been thinking about buying a house. I suppose I should do this first, but I still have 6 months left on my apartment lease and I've got the car bug. Especially after how the Ford dealer treated me when I took my car in for service a few weeks ago (no more Fords for me). If I get the car now, I might have to put off the house for a little while.
I currently drive a 2000 Ford Mustang GT and although it's a fun car and I've never really had problems with it, I drive to and from work more than 50 miles per day and only get about 20 mpg on 90% highway driving. My insurance is about $1,800 per year (I am 29) and have a perfect driving record (I would think the Saab would be cheaper to insure). I also find I am having to carry passengers and there just isn't enough room. I've been a car nut for a long time and would never settle for anything ordinary, and I think the Saab is the way to go.
I am not concerned about the quality, except for the usual first-year bugs for a new model like the 9-3. I'll probably get an 04 model, which I hope will be better. I know Saabs are good cars, and probably a lot better than what I am currently driving.
