You can get a range of high quality amps that accept speaker-level inputs that clean the signal before amlifying it again; Alpine, Clarion, and so on. Granted, this will not be 100% like an RCA level-input, but it's very close...too close to notice a difference. You can also get a seperate line-converter and use any amp you want. Someone documented in a Word DOC what wires to tap under the seat and use to go to the [new] aftermarket amp. He say's the sound of his 93SS is amazing aftetr adding the 6x9s.
Personally, I would try this first before you take out the h/u and modify your dash. You also buy a 4 channel amp instead of 2 channel, and use it to power the 6x9s and a sub. The front is always going to sound good and you really can't/should not do much to it in terms of adding bass. The plastic buzzes like crazy...you don't want to add on to that. I Dynamated my front doors and they sound perfect now...but I can't imagine more bass in the doors. I think it's very poor design by any manufacturer to putt bass drivers in doors.
