I'm not really modifying my dash. All I'm doing is taking out the cd changer unit and putting in a head unit. Everything else stays. The stock appereance can be restored easily. I actually saw pictures and it looks quite good from someone else who did this.
The other point is that I see the front speakers as the main ones and rear ones only as fillers to get good sound in a car; and the problem for me in this car is the front speakers, the amplification sucks and so do the speakers. In fact, the new fronts with higher power will clear everything up for me so I have to go this way; it is not to make them sound louder, rather more amplification alway clarifies the sound; a doubling of the wattage (I will be tripling) only increases loudness by a bit, but does wonders for the sound quality. I also think my door will vibrate less anyways, because the new set will be sending everything below 90 Hz to my sub in the indentation on the right side. Besides, it will be dynamated also. What will improve tremendously, though is the mids and highs which I want. The stock front setup is not to my standard at all.
I guess what it really amounts to is what level does one want to go. Anyways, will keep you posted.
