Using a ratchet to tighten your spark plugs is damaging if not used correctly. It could lead to cross threading the cylinder head. So what?
Give us some credit, if we have enough foresight to use anti-seize on the spark plug threads we probably are intelligent enough not to use half a tube of anti-seize on four spark plugs.
BTW, calculate the clearance margin of the threads of a spark plug versus the threads in the cylinder head. What is the tolerance? A few thousandths of an inch? How much of the anti-seize "leaks" past the thread tolerance? My bet is not a lot. You know how I know this? I went into the garage, took the cylinder head of a 302 Ford engine that is off of the block, and backed out the spark plug. I gooped up the threads with anti seize to see what would happen. All that I saw on the inside of the combustion chamber was a very, very light silver coating in-between the threads of the spark plug tip.
Interesting stuff, huh?
