There's a thread about this somewhere...
1st-gen 9³ gave an SID warning to change oil based on mileage or time. Whichever came first. There isn't any display of % remaining.
2nd-gen (beginning with 03 sedan, 04 cvt) doesn't measure the oil itself, but uses a calculation with # of cold starts, # of total revolutions, elapsed time, temperature, throttle, etc... You have to reset the oil-life display. But it's only valid when you use oil that meets the spec.
