With a square you can easily compare the camber side to side. And it is the difference in the camber from one side to the other that often makes a vehicle pull to one side. This difference is called cross camber. Cross camber should be set really close to zero when working on a system where adjustments can be made - such as 2002+ 9-5s at front.
And yes, a tire can make things pull too.
