I did something similar years ago. I took the car to a guy I know who's an auto upholsterer. He does alot of hot-rods, restorations, and high-line cars. He removed the seat, removed the seat skin, and used the damaged panel as a template to fashion a new panel. Then he re-sewed the panel back onto the existing panel and reinstalled it onto the seat frame. This 20 year old 900 is still going strong and I'd be willing to bet that you couldn't tell where the repair is located. Check it out with some resoration people or some hot-rod clubs.
