Thanks to all who responded to last post re to SAAB or Not to SAAB (Audi A-3 looks promising as substitute for eventual 9-3 hatch withdrawl). Todays question has to do with a recurring front rotor problem on my 99 9-3 base which has the CK Paden steering ramp brace, clamp, front sub-frame brace and Talieferro rear sway bar. The aftermarket 17" rims were recently (last summer) replaced with OEM BBS RKs (single piece- OE on 9-5 Aeros in 00 or 01?). The rims look great and due their multispoke design seem to absorb punishment better than the Borbet 5 spokes Type H I had previously mounterd. (3 of the 4 Borbets were bent and Tire Rack no longer stocked the rim in my desired size such that I opted to return to the SAAB OEM rims due to concerns about future availability. But I digress, my problem began upon mounting the new rims with Pirelli P-Zero-Nero Ultra-High Performance ALL Season tires. Upon my first or second run from Cincinnati to St Louis (approx 370 miles one way), I had need to decelerate from 85 to 90 MPH to 20 MPH due to both deer and deer carcasses in the road around dusk. As a result of multiple hard decelerations, my original rims warped. Replaced these at my own cost with SAAB OEM rotors which to me seemed small but dealer assured me these were the correct rotors for my car. Subsequently these warped when I had to hit the breaks hard to avoid cinder blocks in the road. These rotors were replace under their on year parts warranty (covered labor as well) by Just SAAB of Fairfied (great dealership by the way). Now the replacement set seems to vibrating under hard breaking at highway speeds (exit ramp decelerations)indicating that these also have warped.

It appears that the BBS RKs may restrict rotor cooling air flow over the rims such that the rotors are now prone to warping. Dealer swears lug nuts are torqued correctly.

What say the collective experts herein? Are the SAAB OEM rotors no longer as durable as they once were? Is the rim design of the BBS RK? Should I ask for the holed and slotted Viggen rotors? Will these fit my base 99 9-3 or are these incompatible? Just getting tired of rotors that last only 60 days. My driving has not changed and I do not take the vehicle to the track and I am not driving accross mountains with steep grades. Just the usual mid-west jaunts on long straight open highways with very few bears/smokies which of course means "spool up the turbo and keep it spooled".
