My 2000 viggen replaced my 88 SPG as a daily car & I am extremely pleased with the car. It has lots of character like the old saab's however I feel the viggens require a few upgrades to make them more enjoyable.
VRK is a must, MP sells it for under $200 I beleive
rear sway bar under $100 & makes car mroe neutral
Maintenance wise, fortunantly these are not maintenance oriented like the old saabs. I would think any descent european car shop would be qualified to work on one however they seem to be very reliable!
I friend has a WRX wagon (2002) & like the 9-2 aero I haven't been impressed with the car. The chassis is MUCH better then the viggens thus does not flex & feel weak however the power of the engine as well as overall feel of the car did not impress me. I do seem to like the 9-2 more then the std wrx with the quicker steering rack & a few other mods however it still seemed small & has less room them my viggen.
