So with 89 in general, and Costco 93, you were getting around 25.5

With a tank of Chevron 93 you observe 28, an increase of 2.5 MPGs or 10%.

Chevron with Techron would help by cleaning out some injector deposits.

The higher octane will allow the ECU to run with more agressive timing which could increase MPGs. This would be all the more true if the injector spray patterns were bad and the combustion chamber had deposits that create hot spots that increase the engines octane needs. Worn plugs can also be a player.

And if the other fuels had high levels of ethanol, that reduces the combustion energy of the fuel. I tried Texaco 10% ethanol and saw a 6% drop in MPGs on the highway (95SET).

You should be feeling more power when you get on the throttle.

So if the premium fuel is costing $0.20 more a gallon and the fuel costs aroung $2.00 per gallon, then you have a 10% increase in fuel cost and maybe a 10% increase in MPGs with Chevron. If that is so, sounds like an even trade. Track the MPGs further and see what happens.

Check that tire pressures are right. Soft tires eat fuel. Wind can have a very large influence, and the T5's seem to loose MPGs in hot weather too.
