1. amp.. I have wiring diagram from WIS.
I tried to cut it off orignal harness from OEM head to AMP.
and sound was just not good enough.
also, if you messed up orignal Din cable, that harness price is so expensive (about 50+ dollars) So, I just put new small amp that I picked up from local best buy (Kenwood 2ch, open item $48.48 include tax) and
just split wire from harness to speakers. and it is easy to mount exactly same place that OEM amps were there. less head ache and better sound.
(as far as price wise, messed up orignal harness was just not economical.)
2. Actually, just bottom of headunit was good enough for me.
I have SWI-X plus clarion 935 VD setup. I just placed wire bottom of headunit and kind of put sensor over the part of ir reciever of head unit.
If you go to radioshack, you can order IR sender looks like small chocolette chip under 5 bucks. its kind of universal, best way of doing this is just put sender in front of reciving part.
If you are have coupe, another best location is little back of sunroof unit. I helped one of my friend who owns 9-3SS and it woked great.
