Front Wheels are Hot

I've been reading past posts, but I want to summarize my situation and see if anyone has specific advice.
I had my '98 900 SE Turbo inspected in May. They said I needed to replace my brake pads "soon" (car passed inspection so it didn't seem urgent).
For a while, it seems that when I brake, the car tends to pull to the left. Every once and a while, I think I smell burning rubber. Also, tonight I noticed for the first time that the front wheels were very hot after a short drive. When I checked the tire pressures, three were ~30# while the front right tire was greater than 50#!!!
I am pretty sure this all tied to the brakes. I wanted to replace the pads myself for the first time. But am I having other issues? I've read about the master cylider having issues. Could this job be out of my novice reach?
Also, does anyone know how much different scenarios could cost me (just pads, pads and rotors, calipers, master cylinder, etc.)? Is Midas a good place to take the car to or should I go to the dealer?
Help!!!
Chris
