I don't notice the problems you describe on my son's 1996S with the SAS bar. When I bought my 1997SE I transferred the bar to my car. It was good but it didn't seem to have the same amount of improvement on the SE due to the better suspension. I then moved it back to the 1996 900S.
One effect of the bar I did notice was that the car seems more balanced with under/oversteer. On my 1997SE I clamped two standard bars together and am happy with the results.
