97 900 SE Turbo--is this a good model to buy?

I am looking to buy a Saab and found a 5-speed 1997 900 SE Turbo Hatchback with 125k miles (haven't seen it yet). The guy is asking $3,000 for it because he needs to leave town soon, and the airco isn't blowing cold, leather isn't great anymore, and the passenger's seat is 'locked' in one position. Otherwise it's "fully loaded".
Is this a good year for the 900? What should I pay special attention to when I check it out (I will take it to my Saab mechanic who advertizes here--Walter Wong).
The price seems pretty good but I don't want to get burned by huge potential repairs (thus due to recommendations on this board I steered clear of the early 90's 9000 series). I don't have tons of cash stashed away...but do own an early 90's BMW so know about the importance of regular maintenance. Anything known to go wrong--abonormally--for the late 90's series after 125k?
Thanks for any advice,
Saskia
