radiator (and other) hoses are common and were even experienced by Fred Flintstone in his car I'm sure. Replacing just this hose should get you back on the road, and all it takes is a screwdriver generally. You're not so much lucky as you are not unlucky. Something simple is always the first thing to suspect when your car frightens you.
By all means, have your car looked over. If you haven't had the cooling system serviced in awhile (i.e., last couple years sometime) then it's a good idea to have the thermostat replaced and coolant flushed ASAP. At the same time a good looking-over of the hoses can be done and any bum ones replaced. Often the hoses are okay elsewhere and the one that failed might have been overlooked in the past.
An evaluation is first. Any indicated repairs can be done thereafter.
