Hely DoubleNutz! Chaadster here from over on the 928 Forum on Rennlist...
Good call on the Saab, I drive a '96 5dr Turbo manual in the winter months when the shark is in storage. Your choice puts you in good company, as many 928 drivers run Saabs as well; Nicole, Big Dave, and at least a few others. You should post a thread over there and watch 'em come out of the woodwork!
Anyway, more to the questions in your post, as has been mentioned, your new Saab should prove to be pretty easy to maintain. While there may be many small issues, there don't seem to be any major shortcomings that cause massive or debilitating damage.
One thing that comes to mind is the electronic display for the trip computer and radio display, which often looses pixels in the display. If you search the Classifieds here, though, you'll find an outfit that repairs those for minor $$s. Oh, another issue would be with the electronic climate control; these things seem to get buggered up and kind of act of their own accord at times. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the repair of those, even though I dealt with it in a previous 9000 and the current car.
Over the years, I've had four Saabs (two OG900s, one 9k, and the current NG900), so I could ramble on a bit more re: mods if you like. Lemme know.
Good to see you here!
