So I have this dreaded parking brake frozen drum problem that has seem to crop up in a few 93's. The procedure to fix it from "Dean" (linked below) looks fairly straight forward, but I'm having a big problem with the amount of rust back there! First of all, when I took the lug bolts off, the wheel was rusted to the drum/disc so bad that I could probably have driven cross country with it on! I took a beating from a rubber mallet and finally a pry bar to remove just the wheel (no damage was done however). Now I'm looking at the "index" screw in the disc to remove it and the caliper bolts.

The caliper bolts, although severely rusted look like some penetrating oil will take them off given enough torque. However, this index screw is basically rusted over totally and I don't think I'm going to get it out with oil alone. The procedure looks pretty dire at this point (I think the words are "give up here").

What is some advice to get this index screw out? I'm very confident that if I get it out I can solve my problem and get the car back on the road again. I'm also worried that this screw isn't going to come out, I hope to god that doesn't mean the whole assembly has to be replaced.... or worse... I have to take it to a dealer ( notice my chain of bad ;-p).

Any advice?
