The receipt from the dealer states B1830; "gear malfunction. Mechanical fault." "Tryed to clear DTC. DTC will not clear it is continous due to damaged transmissionIts"
Its a 96 NG900 set.
I dont trust the dealer, sorry.
The gear box light 'seems' to comes on right after the car wants to shift to 4th. I dont think its going into 4th. I drove the car this morning with the selector in 3dr for some time and the check gearbox light didnt come on. When I put the car in Drive, as soon as it wanted to go to 4th the check light came on. Turn the car off and the light goes out. But the CEL is blinking too. The dealer stated that the 2 lights are related.
The fluid was 1 qt low but in excelent condition. I have changed it every-other oil change since we got the car at 116000. It has 13900miles on it now. But I dont thing the car was loved. It did have proper attention wile under dealer care. The first fluid change when I got the car didnt seem too nasty.
"A malfunction in the torque converter lock-up" sounds interesting. The car never seemed to 'lock up" in 4th on the x-way.
I will try to locate and remove this #34 you speak of to reset and see if it returns.
So, is it 'B' or 'P' code?
It's just such a shock, the car was running fine. When you shut it off and start back up the check gearbox light goes off. Then everything 'seems' to run fine. But I dont think we are getting 4th.
How many rpm should we see going 65mph?
So obviously this is not a minor repair or check for the obvious?
Thanks
Ksaab
