Yes, it goes to the border between red and yellow just about any other time I floor it. I don't think I hear any weird sounds, but then this is the first turbo I've owned.
Sometimes when starting from a green light, I get a burst of acceleration just before I shift from first to 2nd, probably around 4,000 RPM. So, trying to learn what's going on, I've been observing the needle behavior. Usually, it's what I described. Sometimes, the needle gets to 1/3 yellow, and then I get the burst of acceleration.
Is boost limited to the neutral point, or something higher? And if it's higher, why would it vent the pressure early? Perhaps a (my terminology might be incorrect here) weak wastegate spring? But, if the wastegate spring is weak, how does it acheive full boost in other gears? Thanks for any insights. :)
