Hey Lawrence, you nailed it! Took me a while to get back to this thread, but when I saw your response it sounded like the issue I was having. I don't have any turbo mods at all, just stock.

After my initial post, I had found that I could get boost if I left my foot in it a little above 5000 RPM, but I would get the sudden burst. I thought it was just the way they work.

After I read your post and searched on BPC, I cleaned out the valve as was described and dried it with shop air. Now the needle starts into the yellow at 3500 RPM and gets to the yellow/red divider by 5000. Also there's no acceleration burst like before. End result is that the turbo lag is much reduced in 1st gear.

Anyway, thanks for the great advice! I can't believe it was that easy.
